Here the branches and leaves are more in focus and I think they detract from the picture. But I kept the picture because of the bird's vivid colors. And maybe it's these vivid colors that saves the picture by attracting the eye to the bird instead of to the twigs and leaves around the bird.
Also note the reflection of light in the birds eye. This reflection is called a "catch" .Without it the eye looks lifeless. In fact I consider the catch so important that if a shot does not have one, I add it in Photoshop. The trick is getting it in the right place i.e. where it would have been if it was there naturally. In either this picture or the pervious one I added the eye catch. Can you tell which one? |
