A Cattle Egret poking it's head up from the heavy growth it is foraging in.
There are a lot of Cattle Egrets here now but they are really shy e.g. they keep their distance and they spook easily.
Perhaps if they stay a little longer they will learn from the resident birds that the people on the boardwalk are not predators.
And here is some interesting trivia. Cattle Egret are native to Africa and only recently, since 1940, have they appeared in significant numbers in the New World. |
