An adult Sora.

I got lucky here. These birds are normally hard to find and even harder to shoot as they live in the heavy vegetation and move quickly when out in the open.

And here is a disturbing fact I found in my National Geographic bird book. This bird is a game bird over most of the Eastern United states.

Come on. Give me a break! This bird is only about 8 inches long, tip to tail. I can imagine Texans shooting birds like this, or anything else for that matter. But Blue Staters? Come on guys. Lighten up!
