The doorbell plugs into any outlet, but works best if it's in an outlet near the door.

Tip: The codes can be changed, like garage door openers, so that each doorbell will only respond to it's button.

So, if you get one of these units, I suggest you change the code to other than the default setting, to avoid having your neighbor's button ring your doorbell.
